How it works

Your FMSC experience: Start to finish

From the moment you reserve your spots to heading home, the whole experience is around one and a half to two hours.

1

Reserve your session

Pick a date that works. Create a free FMSC account so you can add family members, edit your reservation or sign up again later.

2

Show up & suit up

Arrive 10 minutes early. We'll greet you, give you a hairnet and share with you all safety details.

3

Pack meals together

Scoop, weigh, seal and box your way through our simple packing process! With a fun playlist on in the background, you'll have 60–90 minutes of hands-on work at your group's station. We finish every session with a reveal of how many meals you packed and an optional prayer.

Who can volunteer

Ages 5 and up of all abilities can volunteer

All of our sites are family-friendly and accessible to all abilities. If you have questions, just give us a call.

Kids ages 5 and up

Children 5–17 must have an adult chaperone, with at least one adult for every five kids ages 5–11.

Solo volunteers

We always have spots for individuals at our packing sessions. You'll be teamed up with others at your packing station.

Groups of 10 to 150

Churches, workplaces, scout troops, sports teams: Packing at FMSC is the perfect opportunity to share meaningful time together.

Opportunities for all abilities

We have a job for everyone. Tables and tasks can be adjusted for seated volunteers. Let our staff know when you arrive what you need to succeed.

Not feeling well? Please stay home.

For the health of the kids who receive these meals, we ask anyone with a fever, cough, vomiting or other signs of illness in the last 24 hours to reschedule. We'll happily move your reservation — just contact the site.

What to expect on-site

It's hands-on, a little loud, and goes by fast!

    Arrive 10 minutes early

Check in at the front with the name on your reservation. Bathrooms, water and lockers are right inside.

  2. 2

    A brief welcome

We'll make sure you're familiar with FMSC's mission before safety instructions and a demo of the packing roles.

  3. 3

    Pack meals with your crew

We turn up the music and get to packing! You and your team will find a quick rhythm to get the bags packed. If you aren't at the packing tables, you could also volunteer in our warehouse or at our labeling tables.

  4. 4

    Closing

Before the meals leave the building, anyone who'd like to gathers to pray over them and the kids they're headed to. Then, our staff reveals how many meals your session packed and where in the world they're headed.

Volunteer portrait

"I brought my 7-year-old expecting we'd last an hour. We packed the whole shift, hugged strangers on the way out, and rebooked for the next week before we got to the car."
